When I visit a tea room, I have a few checks to determine how it ranks.
- Loose tea or bagged? (Loose tea at the Tea Cozy!)
- Is the water hot enough (black), or not too hot (green)? (Yes, the right temps!)
- Do they call what I'm having by its rightful name, "afternoon tea" instead of "high tea"? (The Tea Cozy got it right!)
OK, 3 for 3! Yeah!
The Tea Cozy is in the heart of downtown, literally a few blocks from both the Capitol and Monument Circle. I shared lunch and tea there last week, with a friend.I very much enjoyed the decor of the Tea Cozy. It's comfortable, sleek and inviting to both men and women. I was pleased to see a diversity of people in the tea room. The place fits well with its urban presence.
Walking in off the street, you are welcome to a menu of tea, lunch and pastries. Low tea (afternoon tea) and high tea are available by reservation. You can also reserve a nice-sized party room.
Tamara, the Director of Marketing, was our hostess. Her mother is the "Tea Mistress." I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Tamara, and learning about the tea room's history. I hope to have tea with her the next time I visit, and I look forward to a visit soon!

View out the window. To the left is the Capitol and to the right is Monument Circle.
The tea list is extensive. I chose an orchid oolong.
Dessert - English Toffee Pudding. Oh, it's so good! It's warm, so the whipped cream is melting.
The dessert looks heavenly!
ReplyDeleteThe Tea Room looks pretty contemporary.
I have been wanting to go to this place every since it moved to its new location in the heart of Indy! Now I have some new motivation thanks to your post!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! Do you frequent Indy? I live about an hour away from there... we should totally do tea some time! :)
It's nice to hear about a tea room that actually knows what "High Tea" is.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place! I want to go to Indy and have tea there, too...I think this just pushes us further into our plans for visiting Indy with the family!
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
Keri
What a nie looking place- clean and crisp looking- I know that sounds weird, but I love the look of white dishware and clean crisp lines- glad to know the tea was good as well.
ReplyDeleteMy checks are similar and an extensive tea list is a must. How the tea room scones rate is also important to me.
ReplyDeleteThe Tea Cozy does look inviting - such a pretty color scheme. That toffee pudding looks luscious.
The toffee pudding does look so good. I also have a check list. I guess that is what happens for what my family calls "tea snob". But I have just been to enough tea rooms that I start picking up what I like and don't like.
ReplyDeleteLovely review, and that dessert looks yummy!
ReplyDeletethat dessert looks so darn good!
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm calculating how long the drive is to Indianapolis from southern Kentucky! *LOL*
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice place. This is my first visit to your site and I am really impressed.
ReplyDeleteI'm living in Newnan, Georgia (now), but back in 1988, I attended a Defense Information School (U-S Army /DINFOS) at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. I lived there for six months and loved the area.
Thanks for the report,
