Tea Cozy Tea Room (Indy)

When I visit a tea room, I have a few checks to determine how it ranks.
  1. Loose tea or bagged? (Loose tea at the Tea Cozy!)

  2. Is the water hot enough (black), or not too hot (green)? (Yes, the right temps!)

  3. Do they call what I'm having by its rightful name, "afternoon tea" instead of "high tea"? (The Tea Cozy got it right!)

OK, 3 for 3! Yeah!

The Tea Cozy is in the heart of downtown, literally a few blocks from both the Capitol and Monument Circle. I shared lunch and tea there last week, with a friend.

I very much enjoyed the decor of the Tea Cozy. It's comfortable, sleek and inviting to both men and women. I was pleased to see a diversity of people in the tea room. The place fits well with its urban presence.

Walking in off the street, you are welcome to a menu of tea, lunch and pastries. Low tea (afternoon tea) and high tea are available by reservation. You can also reserve a nice-sized party room.

Tamara, the Director of Marketing, was our hostess. Her mother is the "Tea Mistress." I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Tamara, and learning about the tea room's history. I hope to have tea with her the next time I visit, and I look forward to a visit soon!

View out the window. To the left is the Capitol and to the right is Monument Circle.

The tea list is extensive. I chose an orchid oolong.

Dessert - English Toffee Pudding. Oh, it's so good! It's warm, so the whipped cream is melting.

Great pictures! Do you frequent Indy? I live about an hour away from there... we should totally do tea some time! :)

It's nice to hear about a tea room that actually knows what "High Tea" is.

  5. What a nie looking place- clean and crisp looking- I know that sounds weird, but I love the look of white dishware and clean crisp lines- glad to know the tea was good as well.

  6. My checks are similar and an extensive tea list is a must. How the tea room scones rate is also important to me.

The Tea Cozy does look inviting - such a pretty color scheme. That toffee pudding looks luscious.

  7. The toffee pudding does look so good. I also have a check list. I guess that is what happens for what my family calls "tea snob". But I have just been to enough tea rooms that I start picking up what I like and don't like.

Looks like a nice place. This is my first visit to your site and I am really impressed.

I'm living in Newnan, Georgia (now), but back in 1988, I attended a Defense Information School (U-S Army /DINFOS) at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. I lived there for six months and loved the area.

    Thanks for the report,
