Four-paneled screen, gift from Sweetcakes
Early Spring
Harshness vanished. A sudden softness
has replaced the meadows' wintry grey.
Little rivulets of water changed
their singing accents. Tendernesses,
hesitantly, reach toward the earth
from space, and country lanes are showing
these unexpected subtle risings
that find expression in the empty trees.
~Rainer Maria Rilke
Does anyone know the name of this flowering bush? It's been blooming for a few weeks.
Daffodils and lettuce on the balcony. Some neighboring daffodils have begun to bloom in the past few days.
The heather is coming into lushness
Beautiful thoughts and beautiful photos. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSpring provides such promise... and a beautiful reawakening! Looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteOh,Spring! It is my favorite season and eagerly anticipated.
ReplyDeleteYour blushing beauty is Viburnum tinus "Eve Price". The flowers are pink in bud opening to white and these occur almost non-stop from the end of October through to the following May. Where the old flowers have been, they turn into the blue fruit which eventually turns black in Sping. It is highly fragrant and related to the honeysuckle. I have five of these shrubs along my drive and always am delighted when they are in bloom.
Your screen is lovely. A Sweet gift.
Thank you Mary Jane!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words and images!
ReplyDeleteA lovely post, I am so looking forward to spring, I am so tired of the gray and black and brown.
ReplyDeleteI am reminded to buy heather - can't be a Scotswoman with no heather.
