Tea Tasting

I recently had the fun privilege of hosting a birthday tea tasting for two lovely women and their friends. 14 eager learners joined us to try 5 different teas. We tasted a white, green, oolong, black, and pu-erh (left to right below, showing the steeped leaves).

What I particularly enjoyed was this group's great explanations of the tea flavors and aromas. I asked them to put aside judgement in favor of using descriptive terms. They came up with some great ones! In addition, I was very impressed that there were as many men in attendance as women. I am inspired!

Men showing up to tea parties? OMG! Next thing you know they'll be in my yoga classes!

That's a very pretty display of the tea leaves. It shows the size and color range well.

that is a beautiful image. makes me want to touch, smell and taste all of them.

i have an idea that if you changed the name from tea party to something more dangerous and rugged sounding more men would arrive!

i know as a woman tea party sounds pretty girlie to me... but those teas don't look the least little bit dainty and frilly!

As one of the birthday girls, I just want to thank you for a great experience! The teas were wonderful, and everyone really enjoyed the whole learning experience (I even got a few pouts from my non-tea drinking friends who, after hearing about how much fun everyone had, were sad to have missed it). It was a great change from the normal dinner/movie birthday event. Thanks again! (oh, and where can I get some of that tea you brought from Chicago -- Bossa Nova, I think it was called?)

Other birthday girl here! I just wanted to let you know that we had a marvelous time at our tea tasting. It was both informative and fun, and a memorable way to celebrate my 30th. Thank you, Stephanie!

Your party sounds terrific. I would have loved to have been a part of an event like that. What a great idea.
