Women and Tea - International Women's Day 2016

Happy International Women's Day!  Today, I want to share some interesting photos and articles about women's role in the tea world...

Women Tea Pickers (from my travels)

Women and Boston Tea Party

"Maybe it has only been men who have protested the king up to now.  That only means we women have taken too long to let our voices be heard.  We are signing our names to a document, not hiding ourselves behind costumes like the men in Boston did at their tea party.  The British will know who we are.”  ~Penelope Barker

Thank you for sharing these interesting links! At work, I attended a Woman's Day Luncheon which held a feminine hygiene and new bra drive. The donated items will be distributed to women's shelters.

Steph, I shared this on DestinationTea's twitter page - love that you connected women and tea to honor this day. I'm saving this page to my "Tea Education" file. Thank you!

Interesting article on the history of drinking tea and Irish women. I was not aware of that past concern.
As an educator, I need to do much more addressing women's issues worldwide.

I love women's history, so this is right up my alley. And it's occurred to me that I may need to write a short story (or novella or something) about Penelope Barker one day. I love her!
