I've had this teapot fabric for several years, and didn't know what to do with it. I finally decided on making this blouse, from the Made by Rae tutorial. I like the blousy look, above, but also thought it would look nice with a contrasting sash.
Which do you prefer?

What a lovely top, Steph! Wonderful job. Probably influenced by our 90+ degree temps today, I prefer the one without the belt. Stay cool! :)
It's adorable, Steph, both the fabric and the finished top, and perfect for summer. I think both ways are stylish!
I really like this...beautiful colors!
I think both ways look super cute, but I prefer the top one...it has a relaxed, flowey look, very summery. When tying it, the pleats seems slightly constrained, as if they want to puff out more and be free like in the top photo!
But...like Karen pointed out, I may be influenced by the fact that it is extremely warm here today!
Beautiful! Your sewing looks great! I like it with the sash for being stylish. It's probably more comfortable without it if it's warm.
Oh just perfect either way. Love the color and the coolness of it. I would probably wear it without the sash on a warm summer day.
So very CUTE!!! You did a beautiful job!

You all should be my fashion advisors all the time! Thank you!
Your top looks great. I've almost made this top so many times. I need to break down and make it one of these days.
I think your top looks great both ways. It looks a little more dressy with the belt.
Did you do the optional shaping step? If not and you feel the top is too flowy, pin fit the shaping and try it on again before sewing.
I was going to say option #1 until I saw #2. They are both darling! Either, or, and both!
Your sewing skills are really coming along. Making a yoke on a garment can be a little tricky and yours looks fabulous! You look so cute and I love the fabric.
I love them both, but I think that with the size of the pleats it seems to look a little more stylish without the belt. If this were lengthened into a dress, then it would look better proportioned with the belt. Just a thought.
Happy sewing.
Steph, this is soooo pretty! You did a fantastic job. I love it!
I was just online this morning looking at some new tea-themed fabric at Liberty London (a tea friend told me about it). It's a rather large overall pattern, too large for a tea cosy. A summer blouse like yours with the Liberty fabric would be perfect.
Now if only I had a sewing machine.
Or knew how to sew.
oooooh! Liberty Tea Fabric!!!!!!
I love both! Sashed is a little "dressier," so you have styling options!
What a cute top - both ways look great on you, the fabric pattern shows a little more with it unbelted. But either way it is great. Love that fabric.
Hi Steph,
Fabulous! I love the top and the wonderful fabric you selected. When can I place an order? :)
Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Darlene
Love the shirt! Both ways are cute, but I like it without the belt... :)
