Tea at the Office

Hard at it at work today. Got a lot to do, but I like finishing the week with a sense of getting stuff done! I can be such an over-achiever. It's a blessing - and then it's not. ;-)

I am very, very blessed to have my office in my home these days, but it wasn't that long ago that I worked in cubicle land.

I still managed to have nice tea there. My work mates and I were fortunate to have a break room on each floor, equipped with super-hot water spouts. I had a small teapot at my desk, a small strainer and a mug with a lid. (A lidded mug was a safety requirement. No loose hot liquids.) I would make myself a pot of tea in the afternoon, to keep myself going. I generally chose green teas b/c the temps from the hot water spout were about right for a green.

I still smile when I think of the looks I got and conversations I had about my tea time. Many were curious about my tea routine. Some just chuckled. Others asked for a taste.

If you fit tea into your work routine, how do you manage it?

Happy weekend! Raising a cup to you!

Oh, yes I drink tea at the office! I don't have a teapot here, though. I usually just use a teabag or a little strainer in my mug. We have a stove, so when I want black teas, I boil myself some water.

ashamed to say I use a tea bag in a mug, but I use twinnings tea bags.
By the way was meaning to say I do so love your blog, makes me want to have tea parties...

@BTL - No need to be ashamed. Good tea comes in all sizes, and if YOU like it, that's what matters! And I do hope you have that party!

Just yesterday I was drinking a hot cup of gyokuro green tea (a treat I bought for myself!) while trying to keep the baby in my other arm from slapping the mug out of my hand. Tea time is harder at "work" for me these days. :)

When I left one of my jobs there was a party for me. The one comment that I appreciated among others, was the comment about my little green teapot. I would go to the special hot water tap each morning with my green teapot and teabag and made tea for my desk. I loved having the tea for the next hour while I read emails and got started with the day.

Having my own office makes it possible to enjoy tea just about whenever I want. I'm stuck using bags right now, but later on I may look into an electric kettle. That would really be nice.

At my [former] job I also had a cubicle but luckily a small kitchenette area only steps away. In the cupboard above the sink is where I kept my mini-Bodem electric kettle, my teacup, and my tea bags. There was a hot water machine there, but I only used it to warm up my teacup while the kettle was on. I used to bring in a different Harney tea on the first of every month to share with anyone in the firm adventurous enough to try something new. In several of the emails I have received from my former colleagues today, they told me how much they appreciated that gesture and how they would miss it - and me, of course. :-)

This is funny because I have a teapot and mug set that I keep on a hot pot warmer. But..after my morning coffee I forget it is there. Then in the afternoon I don't get the time. I spend most times dusting it off. LOL I even bring tea with me in my carry bag in the hopes it will make me use it but I forget. LOL

Great post! I have a new hot water dispenser on my sink. DH cannot figure out why I don't use it to make tea, and I just explained the whole green and black tea temp thing. It really does make a difference in flavor, doesn't it. But, I am drinking more green tea --- as it's convenient in a hurry with the new instant hot water. Then the hurry disappears and I slow my pace, sipping on that delicious tea! I sweeten with stevia -- and sometimes wonder if I really love the tea (I do) or is it the stevia I love (I do, too).

Enjoy a great week-end!

I use to always have tea at the office where a I used to work. I got a lot of laughs because I always had a different tea cup each month or so or for holidays. I didn't care, I even had lovely tea pots that I kept on my bookcase, too!

Working outside the home seems like ancient history now. Back then I drank coffee at work, mostly because there was always a pot ready. It saved time in that busy office routine.

I only drink one or two cups of coffee a year now. I start each day with a pot of black tea and then drink many more cups of various types of teas during the day.

Back before I loved tea as much as now, I worked with a beautiful British lady who would make herself a cup of tea several times a day and she'd keep her biscuits in her desk drawer. I drank coffee in those days and kept my special mug at my desk and a warming plate plugged in to keep it warm. I wonder if a warming plate would keep a small pot of tea warm as well?
