Hyacinths to Feed Thy Soul

Woodland Hyacinth

If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,

And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,

Sell one, and with the dole

Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.

Oh yes, their scent alone makes your heart glad.

How pretty! I don't think I've ever seen a woodland hyacinth before!

Yes, I agree Steph. Food for the soul indeed. I enjoyed a "banquet" of flowers at the National Botanical Garden this week in DC. The Spring blooms were spectacular.

Have loved the verse for years, and photo is pretty, but I would call those flowers " bluebells". They grow wild in woods in England. Hyacinths have much thicker stems with many more florets on each stem :)
