Seattle Crumpet Shop

Have you been to The Crumpet Shop at Pike's Place Market in Seattle?  I've blogged about it before, but thought it's worthy of a revisit!  If you ever get to Seattle, it would be a highlight of your trip.  I recently returned to the shop while at the NW Tea Fest.

The shop has a nice selection of loose tea.  I had a first flush Darjeeling.

There are many ways to enjoy the crumpet.  I prefer mine very simply topped with butter.  Perfection!  (Hint to The Crumpet Shop:  Offer Earth Balance vegan margarine, too.)

I took home two bags; they freeze well!  Below is the tiny kitchen where these are made.

I've also experimented making homemade crumpets. I should make another batch someday soon!  Have you made crumpets?  Got any tips to share?

Not made any crumpets yet though I do have a recipe from my cute "Vintage Tea Party" book!

As for your vegan margarine suggestion... wouldn't that be self-defeating? I think crumpets are made with milk :)

Looks delicious and they do freeze well. In England, I buy them in the supermarket and freeze them.

Teaist - You're probably right that these have milk in them, tho I don't know for certain. I have a vegan recipe and I don't notice the lack of dairy milk.

I can't believe no one has commented on that cat. It's just so cool! Haha - the tea is out of the bag vs "the cat" - they are very clever.

I have been here, delicious! Loved watching them making them too. I would like mine with a bit of butter and orange marmalade.

I've made crumpets several times before and was surprised at how very easy they are! My only advice (which you probably already know) is to use crumpet rings ... or an empty tuna fish can with both lids removed. Makes perfectly-shaped crumpets, easy peasy!
