"Coffee is strong and direct; tea is refined.
Coffee is potent; tea is romantic.
Coffee is noisy and obstreperous; tea is quiet and subtle.
Coffee is nouveau rich; tea is old money."
The quote sits well with me.
Happy FRIDAY!!!

Funny, I was drinking a cup of decaf coffee while reading this and trying deperately not to wake up my baby. Maybe I should have opted for tea since it is quieter. :)
As a tea drinker who can't stomach coffee, I love the quote! Sounds so elegant!
Hmmm. The plants themselves grow out of such different regions of the world and different traditions. While I do find myself being 'contemplative' when sitting down with a cup of tea, coffee will also make me tranquil and reflective. And what about the Boston tea party....that wasn't quiet! I would say the 'old money' and 'quiet' and 'refined' demeanor comes out of the mental connection between tea and victorian england. Or perhaps the quiet/contemplative connection with eastern countries like India and China. I've noticed one difference in my tea/coffee drinking habits...I almost only drink coffee in the morning, whereas I can drink tea at any time of the day. Currently drinking: gen mai cha
What a spunky little quote - just picking a fight, eh? >-) Of course, they both have their strengths. If I were on a deserted island and could only have one, I'd pick tea.
Good point in the other comment about origins of the plants. Interesting to think about.
