Small is better...

When it comes to houses (and so many other things!). I really dislike the American infatuation with "big is better." Grab a cup of tea and read this article, sent to me by NM Tea Lover.

Amen. More space=more need for 'stuff' to fill the space. While I lament only having one bathroom sometime, I realize it is nice to only have 1 to clean. I even am not finding any challenge to my small 1950s size closets that are about 1/5 of the modern walk in. I think the sad thing is people are being 'tricked' into the suburb-big house dream. Then they realize they're out in the middle of nowhere with no parks, services, stores, and a very long commute to work. I've decided that I'm going to stay in my house as long as I'm in Albuquerque. And instead of getting something bigger, I'm going to remodel parts of it to maximize the use of space and remodel some of the outdoor spaces to be more useable/beautiful. Interesting about the solar tax credit, I may need to look into that!

That's an awesome photo. It looks professional. The framing and side lighting are exquisite. Nice job.
